Having lived in both Seoul and Chicago, I am fascinated by the events and objects from these places and their relationship to my personal history. In my practice, my process, I try to reconnect with these places and moments from my life, and I continue to hold the memories and tangible feelings that I experiences.
My recent work making silkscreen prints has been a real turning point for me. I am interested in images derived from pop cultures and personal experiences. Oftentimes my work takes a narrative form. Sometimes there are subtle things left unsaid, yet even these whispers retain a heavy presence within my work. I believe that emotions and revelations are very ephemeral; they occur to us and just as quickly we often forget them. Emotions are lost down the moving highway stream of conscious thought. Only later do we recall these experiences through memory and mental snapshots. I seek to capture this moment in time of thought through my prints. I hope my art forces discussion and reaction from the viewer. Whether positive or negative, love or hate, a conversation emerges.
